Week 16 is typically the championship final for many fantasy football leagues. And because of the high stakes this weekend, many fantasy football owners were scared when Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered a groin injury in practice.
Despite not dressing for Friday practice, the Steelers listed Smith-Schuster as “questionable.” While there was a fear that Smith-Schuster wouldn’t play in Pittsburgh’s big game in New Orleans, Smith-Schuster assuaged those fears on social media saying that because this was a big week (for his fantasy football owners), he will play.

A lot on the line this week. The whole season comes down to this. Yes, I’m talking about the fantasy football championship round. Of course I’m playing Sunday!!! Theres no way I can let down the real ones who believed in me by drafting me!! Let’s get it!! pic.twitter.com/6YntwS4lpD

More than likely, Smith-Schuster was going to play anyway. With just two games left, the Steelers are only a half game behind the Patriots for the third seed but only a half game ahead of the Ravens for the AFC North, and a loss to the 12-2 Super Bowl favorite Saints could see them out of the playoffs. So, this game is very important for the Steelers as a team, but that doesn’t mean Smith-Schuster can’t have this game be important for his team(s), both real and in fantasy.
JuJu Smith-Schuster may be the number two option in Pittsburgh but he is just behind Antonio Brown in fantasy points and has become a welcome addition for any team. Brown may be the first rounder everyone was going after but Smith-Schuster was the value pick in the later rounds and really made the difference between a good team and a great team. Kinda like how he is on the football field. And with the news that he is good to go on Sunday, the Steelers and the fantasy owners, will breathe a sigh of relief.
